What is CABRUCA?

Welcome to the world of CABRUCA in the Brazilian rainforest. An exceptional cocoa grows here amongst high forest trees, protected from sun and aridness, and supplied by nature with water and nutrients. 

The CABRUCA cooperative of bio-farmers in southern Bahia was established at the end of the year 2000 and today comprises of around 42 family enterprises in the cocoa region in southern Bahia, in the Atlantic rainforest region. The members are small and medium-sized farming enterprises, which possess altogether a total area of more than 4000 hectares, the largest part of it left to nature. Together with family members, employees, seasonal workers and service providers, more than 1000 people belong to the CABRUCA cooperative.
The duty of the cooperative is to promote sustainable farming in their members’ enterprises. In this spirit CABRUCA works with the following aims:

  Protecting the Atlantic rainforest.
  Diversifying agriculture in sustainable agroforestry systems
    (Cocoa, palms, fruit trees, etc.)
  Controlled and certified bioagriculture.
