Does the Läderach range include vegan chocolate?

Läderach actively monitors dietary habits in society and tries to respond to all requirements by developing suitable recipes. However, we always give priority to keeping our quality promise, which is to make high-quality chocolate that delights the senses. Läderach is not as yet able to offer a vegan product that meets these high standards.

Does Läderach have a factory shop?

We have a direct sales outlet in Bilten where you can find selected products from our range at reduced prices as well as factory seconds, which may have a little cosmetic damage but are otherwise of the same high quality you are accustomed to in Läderach products.

Does Läderach sponsor clubs and groups?

As part of our communication and marketing objectives, we primarily sponsor local clubs and organisations and non-commercial associations and events, with a focus on the Glarus region. We do not support commercial associations or events.
Our decisions are always based on the principle of goodwill for the Glarus region and support for our own sales outlets throughout Switzerland. As a sponsor, we always receive a service in return, for example advertising or another form of brand presence. We do not offer purely financial support.

We also do not support:

  • Individual persons (individual athletes, private individuals, etc.)
  • Artists
  • Book projects, music and film productions
  • Purchase of machinery, equipment and vehicles

Why do products from Läderach contain E numbers? Are they safe and really necessary?

Our recipes are based on the use of the best quality ingredients. We like to capture the natural, specific aromas of our ingredients such as cocoa, hazelnut and almonds.
Therefore, Läderach uses additives to a very limited extent and only where they are necessary for production reasons.

E numbers are additives. For additives to be approved, they must meet three basic requirements:

1. They must be harmless, i.e. consuming them in the concentration used does not pose any long-term health risks.

2. They must be technologically necessary, i.e. a certain foodstuff or product could not be produced without the use of the additive in question.

3. Consumers must not be deceived, i.e. the additive must not convey the impression that the foodstuff has properties that, from an objective point of view, it does not in fact have.

Where does Läderach source its palm oil? Is the natural habitat of orang-utans at risk?

Läderach only uses controlled palm oil in all its products. Its production does not in any way threaten the natural habitat of orang-utans.

What is Läderach’s position on sustainability with regard to the purchase of cocoa?

Our highest quality standards for the cocoa we use also include strict sustainability requirements.

Since we produce the couverture from the bean, we are able to control the procurement chain from the start. This is why our family company regards our cocoa farmers and suppliers as an integral part of the Läderach chocolate family.

In the medium term, we want to and will assume responsibility for the entire process right up to the cocoa farmers and are currently investing in establishing the necessary networks and processes. Procurement concepts such as the Cabruca Project in Brazil are just the start. In doing so, we are basing our approach on recognised sustainability solutions.
